Area HR Manager, West Africa (m/f)
Responsibilities and Tasks:Overall Job Purpose
Delivery of HR programs to support the achievement of business plans and objectives. Provide guidance and support to
management and participate in the development of Hapag-Lloyd RME plans and programs, particularly from the perspective of the impact on people. May assist in the improvement/ development of HR programs, policies, and practices and lead/review the work of less experienced HR staff members.
Job Specification - Key Accountabilities
- Work closely with an organization’s senior management in order to contribute to development of the HR agenda and organization wide People Plan
- Understand business strategy and work on continuous improvement of the processes and initiatives to align to the long term organizational goals
- Design, develop and implement innovative, value adding solutions that align with business objectives
- Drive alignment with the organizational culture to one Hapag Lloyd team
- Supports business transition and mobilization related to new business set up; supports wind down process as necessary
- Become a 5-star recruitment and onboarding expert with ability to anticipate questions and proactively supporting new joiners in their onboarding process; responsible for delivery of the full recruitment and onboarding cycle
- Create influence by developing and getting buy-in to relevant HR solutions; being result driven and showing an appropriate sense of urgency
- Design and enable initiatives to support the needs of the business
- Manage the delivery of core HR cycle activities, supporting with talent reviews and development plans, facilitating mid-year performance review sessions and end of the year round table discussions, tracking and reporting progress of performance management process; ensure continuous feedback and recommendations for improvement
- Oversight of performance review programme to ensure compliance and equity within organization; preparing relevant materials for workshops
- Develop effective communication and education materials for employees; ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate information
- Make data driven improvements; monitor and partner data integrity in the HR systems and ensure appropriate and relevant audit controls are in place
- Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
- Provide coaching and support for line managers as they handle difficult employee relations issues and challenges, acting as HR counsellor and providing guidance and advice as required
- Coach and develop line managers in delivery of key HR activities, build their relationship and people management capabilities
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Critique current methods of working and make recommendations for continuous improvement and HR service optimization
- Deliver projects in line with HR and business agenda
- Successfully manage progress and track HR Operations milestones, deliverables and metrics
- Key delivery channel for initiatives developed by RME HR or Corporate HR in Hamburg
- Actively contribute to standardization and continuous improvement of HR service through structured feedback and solution mindset in order to increase HR effectiveness and enhance the customer experience
- Continuously look to increase the value HR adds to the business
- Understand the HR risks environment; identify and mitigate potential risks
- Determine the annual training budget
- Support RME HR Director with various regional projects
- Contribute to strategic planning, monthly reporting, budgeting and other assigned special projects
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in HR or Business Administration
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive HR experience
- Minimum 5 years of solid generalist experience
- Project management experience is essential
- Depth of experience in managing complex ER cases
- Solid experience in delivering HR solutions with demanding operational context (ie mobilization, talent and workforce planning, resourcing, performance management, consultations)
- Solid experience with data, analytics and HR metrics
- Experience of HR systems and tools
- High integrity and ethics
- Fluent in English; articulate, strong communicator with a ability to present data & information in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent presentation skills and training and coaching capability
- Continuous improvement attitude; ability to suggest and implement best practices
- Solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgement
- Uses rigorous logic to solve difficult problems, looking beyond the obvious to probe for creative solutions
- Strong team player and willingness to assist team members as needed
