Manager (m/f/d) Global Procurement / Category Management Transport
Responsibilities and Tasks:- Worldwide optimization of the procurement of intermodal transports (truck, rail, barge, and feeder), taking into account the high demands requirements on costs, quality, availability and sustainability.
- Coordination Direct leadership of cross-functional procurement (sub-)projects on a global, regional or local basis of purchasing projects with the regional headquarters
- Development and implementation of a needs-based purchasing strategy, in cooperation with the procurement functions of the regions and areas
- Methodical and functional leadership of the corresponding purchasing functions in the world
- Methodical and operational support of the regions and areas in cost reduction initiatives and local tenders
- Exchange and further development of procurement and negotiation methods and tools
- Monitoring and assessing the market, especially for truck, rail, barge and feeder, on a global level
- Management and maintenance of relationships with global partners and service providers
- Controlling global key figures in the area of transport procurement and supporting the regions and areas in annual budget planning
- Ensuring internal communication and use/maintenance of the corresponding IT platforms
- Analysing external market reports and comparing them with internal sources as a basis for strategy development and executive summaries
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Completed studies in the field of transport management, business administration, logistics and/or training as a shipping agent or comparable qualification
- Many years of professional experience in the field of transport procurement
- Very good knowledge of the operational processes of multimodal transport
- Extensive procurement and negotiation experience, gained in several years of successful practice
- Experience in the application of various negotiation concepts (e.g. eAuctions)
- High level of commitment as well as an independent, goal-oriented way of working
- Very good analytical skills
- Experience in managing projects
- Goal orientation and entrepreneurial thinking
- Very good knowledge of the MS Office package
- Willingness to travel worldwide, even at short notice
- Business fluent in English
- Worldwide, intercultural experience
- Ability to work in a team
